Best wishes
‘tis the season
A happy Christmas, or simple good wishes, to everyone who reads and comments on this blog, and especially those investors who’ve inspired, helped, and criticised me, including…
- Anthony, a fellow sufferer
- Calum, who is showing me the risks in house builders
- David, as I look back over the last year, I’m thinking of you
- Geoff, sharpest and most itinerant of investment bloggers
- Graeme, an old sparring partner who returns from time to time to remind me how hard it is to beat the market
- John Kingham, who looks at many of the companies I do with a slightly different perspective
- John McElligott, an analyst with a keen eye on retailers
- John Mulligan, for trying to turn me into an activist
- Keith, who shook me out of complacency about executive pay
- Lewis, who gave me the holding ratio
- Mark, who questions everything, and keeps me honest
- Mike, for providing these sound words of advice, and these
- Monevator, supplier of this excellent quote and many interesting observations
- Paul, who shares my interest in Northamber
- Philip, who showed me what a cigar butt really looks like
- Professor Professorson, a source of both wit, and wisdom
- Nate, who also embraces the full spectrum of value, and unlike me ranges all over the globe looking for it
- Steve, who taught me how to account for operating leases
- Tim, a fellow traveller.
- Trident, a collector of companies with special qualities
I hope to hear from you all in the New Year.
All the best,
Richard.

Merry Christmas Richard, ho-ho-ho and all that. Let’s see if the Mayan’s were right about next year!
Yes, merry xmas to Richard and all. Here’s hoping that Europe doesn’t sink into the sea next year. It should be interesting to see if the general consensus is right or wrong on that one.
Thank you for the sentiments. Many happy returns.
Heres to a healthy and happy 2012.
Thanks Richard from your “fellow sufferer”, Enjoy your Christmas reading. I’ll be reading my just arrived ‘Free Capital’ and hoping to emulate them. Whilst I wait in vain with the likes of Armour, I managed to sell out of Waterman at +50% with a slice of good luck (it retreated soon after), so you win some and you lose some! Some good comments on Armour…I’ve enjoyed them. The new year will bring me new hope and hopefully greater experience. Keep up the good work in 2012, but in the meantime, have a great Christmas!
Best of the season to you, too, Richard, and to everyone else out there!
