The Economist has joined the free Internet. It’s front page is now a big ad., but it’s a small price to pay :-)

I had an email from a reader asking me to clarify what exactly is free now. Here’s an extract from an email from The Economist:

“Being a visitor to Economist.com, you know that it’s the premier online source for the analysis of world business, current affairs, industry and cultural trends. I’m pleased to announce that you can now access all of our recent articles including the full weekly version of The Economist completely FREE. In fact, any article that is up to one year old is now available without subscription, including those retrieved from the archive.”

That’s great , that if any article that is up to one year old is now available without subscription.

Does this mean i can cancel my subscription, and save the trouble of throwing the mag out each week?
