Secret life of a Developer

The problem with being a developer is that you spend hours on end ”sitting on yer bum” doing lots of cool techie things. Whilst this is great exercise for your brain, it’s really lousy for your waist line and social life. So when the opportunity to rekindle a teenage passion for skating appeared on the horizon last year I grabbed it with both hands and haven’t let go since.
One year on, and 2 international speed skating Marathons later, I’m now in a position to put something back into the community which has radically changed my life. After a year of skating thefns and the rollerstroll (and a lot of blood, sweat and fear - concrete chafes at 20 mph!) I’m now a member of the London Friday Night Skate Marshals Association. This is a select group of volunteers who, every week, coordinate hundreds of people rollerblading around the streets of London on 8 wheels with a mobile sound system. You may have seen us, don’t hesitate to join in by giving us a cheer and a wave as we go past - Especially if you’re in a taxi which is doing its best to run over someone in a Hi Viz vest who’s only trying to protect less able skaters from scratching their lovely shiny black paintwork
As with most things in life, everything has now come full circle. On top of training for and competing (ahem loosely speaking) in Paris, Berlin, Le Mans (https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/lemans24solo) Oxford & London I now get to spend even more time “sitting on my bum” donating my existing skills to help enhance the London Friday Night Skate and the Sunday Stroll website (http://www.lfns.co.uk).
As with the Interactive Investor Website, Google Rankings rule, and hitting that number one spot can only be achieved by a combination of coordinated website design, hours of research, Jedi Mind tricks and of course Blatant Website plugs like this one
Thanks Tim…
