Short break

It’s half-term! I won’t be blogging for the next week or so, but many of my favourite bloggers will be. You can always find them on the blogroll in the right-hand margin, and I’ve repeated it here:

10Value10
Alphaville
Barel Karsan
Cautious Bull
Empirical Finance Blog
Eurosharelab
Gannon on Investing
Mark Carter
Monevator
Musings on Markets
My Investing Notebook
Oddball Stocks
Peston’s Picks
Seth’s Posterous
The Value Perspective
UK Value Investor
Valuhunteruk.com

The Interactive Investor mothership is steaming on as usual, and the latest edition of Money Observer magazine is out now, which includes my Share Sleuth column on Metalrax.

The Money Observer Nifty Thrifty portfolio will be updated as usual on the second trading day of the month (Thursday 2 June).

Just in case you are in the market for a really good read, I loved Free Capital. I’m also intrigued by Tim Harford’s selection of five unexpected economics books, but the book I hope to finish off during my break is Why The West Rules for Now by Ian Morris. It’s an extraordinary attempt to outline the shape of history, from the origins of man into the future.

When I return, I’ll review the month, and profile Churchill China.
